I took an Intellectual Property class last semester, so this article caught my attention ...
apparently the "State of Wyoming" has been using the cowboy-riding-the-bucking-bronco image "forever" ... BUT ... they never bothered to register as a trademark with the feds; so when The Texas Stampede (annual rodeo in Dallas benefitting children's medical charities) filed for registration of the exact same image a few months ago the State of Wyoming was a little miffed ... now the Governor is trying to convince the Legislature to aportion $1 million to contest the mark's registration and presumably to assume ownership of the mark ...

Aaron Gleeman has a interesting post comparing Eckersley and Smoltz in regards to Smoltz's possible place in the Hall of Fame ... all in all a good post, although I take issue with a few of his comparison techniques, but let's leave that for another time
